The decision to set up again during the current legislature that the Commission of Inquiry (which operates with the same powers and the same limits of the Judiciary pursuant to art. 82 of the Constitution) was born from the need to examine all the issues related the use of depleted uranium shells in relation to exposure to certain chemical factors, toxic and radiological effects from the possible pathogenic derivante dall’utilizzo dell’uranio impoverito e dalla dispersione nell’ambiente di nano particelle di minerali presenti prodotte dalle esposizione di materiale bellico e alle eventuali interazioni.

Tuttavia occorre prestare particolare attention to remedies and compensation for those involved. "
"To that end - continued Senator Costa - unlike the other Commissions of Inquiry on the same subject matter, this Commission will be tasked to investigate the following areas: the specific environmental conditions of the various operating environments in order to assess the measures adopted for the selection of the best forms of logistics systems and the most appropriate personal protective equipment for troops deployed; the adequacy of the collection and analysis of epidemiological health data related to military and civilian personnel, both those operating in polygons and military bases on national territory is the inviato nelle missioni all’estero; sulle componenti dei vaccini somministrati al personale militare, indipendentemente dal successivo impiego; sulle modalità della somministrazione dei vaccini allo stesso personale, nonchè sul monitoraggio delle condizioni immunitarie dei soggetti osservati; sui rischi associati alla presenza di gas radon e di materiali contenenti amianto negli ambienti ove il personale militare è chiamato a prestare servizio. “
C’è da aggiungere che la Commissione ha altresì il compito di monitorare il funzionamento del Servizio Sanitario Nazionale per le attività concernenti l’ambito di lavoro della stessa, nonchè il funzionamento del servizio Sanitario Militare, ed in particolare the usability of the latter in terms of efficiency and effectiveness on the Italian territory and abroad, in order to better protect the health of all those who may be considered at risk in the performance of its service.
