We learn with satisfaction the news of the new sentence (the third in little more than a year) in a civil fine to the Ministry of Defence and echoed the ' appeal to politicians because it is soon established a new parliamentary commission of inquiry into depleted uranium, which can complement and extend the work of the previous year. A recent ruling of the Court of Rome established the civil damages against family members of military Sardinian Salvatore Vacca, who died in 1999 due to leukemia after a mission in the Balkans, as reported this morning by the newspaper "L'Unione Sarda".
The story was not made clear, just think that we do not know the real dimensions of the phenomenon, ie the number of dead or diseased soldiers for alleged contamination. The Association of Victims of uranium has an incomplete list of 216 dead and more than 2500 patients, but data is incomplete. There were several questions to the Minister Ignazio La Russa on this, but it would be appropriate for it to furnish this information in a more of its own, namely the Parliamentary Committee.
As for our website only Sardinia publish a list with the names of 12 soldiers have died after serving abroad or polygons. This is only the case publicly denounced by associations and families of these boys. All this suggests that it is only in the presence of the tip of the iceberg and we need to continue to seek the truth.

OTHER MEGA Victim Compensation "friendly fire"
After the ruling of the Court of Florence on December 17, 2008 which awarded damages of € 545,000 for the case of paratrooper GB Marica, on the basis of the documentation provided dalla Anavafaf, altri mega-risarcimenti sono stati stabiliti (caso Di Raimondo e caso Vacca).
Even today no one knows who was responsible for the failure to issue standards of protection in respect of "friendly fire" and not even know the number of patients: 312 was the number reported in December 2007 by the Minister Arturo Parisi to the Commission of Inquiry the Senate. 1991, the number announced by the GOI (Group Operation Command of the Military Health), more than 2,500 the number reported by the Military Health.
These numbers relate only to active duty military and not civilians, police forces and other military ordered, so now an estimated 3,000 people affected is not unrealistic. So there is a huge and unexplained uncertainty regarding the extent of this phenomenon. The Commission had Mandelli taken into account only a few dozen cases. It also introduces a grave injustice. Indeed, who could have enough money to deploy a lawyer can count on thousands of euro in compensation, while there are those who did not receive even one euro ..
The situation is totally unacceptable in terms of both justice and the ethical. Errors should be corrected by a scientific committee that reviewed the results of specialized Mandelli Commission and the Parliamentary Commission is reconstituted, fallen in the last Parliament, to establish responsibilities exist.
